Elopement Location Inspiration
When researching elopement locations the first step is to daydream.
Don’t think about logistics. Forget about everyone else’s opinions.
Where do you see yourself starting your forever together?
Visualizing Your Elopement Location
Close your eyes for a second.
Is there soft sand beneath your feet, do you feel the faint mist of a waterfall, or are you breathing in the fresh alpine air?
Open your eyes. What do you see?
Are you standing amongst moss-covered trees, on a mountain peak, or next to crystal clear glacier lake?
If you could get married anywhere you want, where would it be?
How to Choose Your Elopement Location
If you are feeling stuck, or like you can’t narrow down your options, I have a fun exercise for you to try!
Grab a blank sheet of paper, a pen, and set a 30-second timer on your cell phone. Then find a quiet room and sit down by yourself.
Hit start. Write down any word, phrase, or thought that comes to mind about your wedding day. Try not to think too hard, write as fast as you can, and act on instinct.
At the end of 30 seconds take a look at your list. When you read over your list can you spot and recurring themes? Does your list reflect mountain vibes or is it centered around waterfalls?
Let’s look over an example list together: evergreens, fog, water, boho, sunrise, rocks, barefoot, waves, coffee, sand, picnic, mountain, beach.
As an elopement planner, when I look at this list, I see a common theme.
Even though there are a few outliers such as “mountain” this list vaguely describes an Oregon coast elopement. When I look at this list this is what I envision this couples elopement could look like:
Elopement Inspiration
(Beach Wedding)
Their day began with a sunrise photoshoot after they had a hot cup of coffee at a quaint local cafe.
A bohemian wedding dress, a barefoot bride, loose curls blowing in the salty breeze.
They danced together in the morning light as their toes became accustomed to the cold sand.
An intimate ceremony takes place as the crashing waves served as a witness. They exchanged handwritten vows out of a worn leather notebook.
After the ceremony, they explored the coastal forest, walking hand in hand between trees twisted from the wind.
A photoshoot took place amongst the evergreens as the fog crept in and the magic of the day engulfed them.
They celebrated by having a picnic on the beach. Together they watched the colors of the sky change and cherished the warmth of the setting sun on their face.
The photographs of their silhouettes outlined by the last bit of light are one of their favorite memories from their wedding day.
